Arsene Wenger remains hopeful Arsenal star Jack Wilshere will extend his stay at the Gunners beyond the end of the season.
The England international, who is expecting a recall to the international setup when Gareth Southgate names his squad at the end of the week, can leave for free once his current deal expires in June.
Yet, despite no progress being made over a proposed new deal, Wenger remains hopeful that Wilshere will stay at the Emirates.
The midfielder is expected to feature for Arsenal in their Europa League clash with AC Milan , with the Gunners leading 2-0 from the first leg.
And Wenger said ahead of the game: “Nothing has changed. Jack will be free at the end of the season.
“I hope he will stay. That is my desire.”
