Former Tottenham star Ryan Mason has hailed Harry Kane as ‘technically unbelievable’ after overcoming his early weight issues.
The former Hull midfielder came through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and recalled the first time he ever saw Kane play.
While his goalscoring prowess was never in doubt, there were doubts over his fitness owing to his rotund physique.
Speaking to Andy Goldstein on the Final Word, Mason waxed lyrical about his former club colleague – despite being chubby!
He said: “I had the weekend off, can’t remember why, but I remember going over there on a Sunday just to watch the younger Spurs lads.
“And I remember seeing Harry score a hat-trick in about 15 minutes and he was so chubby, so overweight but I looked at him and I thought: “Wow.”
“Technically, he is unbelievable and I think now people don’t appreciate how technically good he is.
“Harry could play centre-mid, he could play centre-half, he could play right-back – he could play any position on the pitch because he’s a footballer.
“I think the only doubt with Harry was his speed, his weight.”
Kane appeared to suffer an ankle ligament injury during Sunday’s clash with Bournemouth , and limped off in the first half.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he hopes the injury is ‘not a massive issue’ ahead of a scan on Monday.
