Chelsea survived the threat of a late comeback from Crystal Palace to seal a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Brazilian forward Willian was on target again for the Blues to fire the hosts into the lead in the first-half, with an own-goal from Martin Kelly doubling their lead before half-time.
On a different day, Antonio Conte’s side might have scored six, but the Eagles made it difficult and frustrated the Blues.
Chelsea went close through Willian, Oliveir Giroud and Eden Hazard but couldn’t find another goal, while Roy Hodgson’s side rallied and threatened to pull off a shock result when Patrick van Aanholt pulled one back in the 90th minutes.
Palace piled men forward in a five minutes of additional time that had fans all around the stadium on the edge of their seats.
But the hosts just managed to hold onto their lead and claimed what was, in the end, a deserved win.
