Liverpool missed the opportunity to rise to second in the Premier League after losing 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds started the game dreadfully and goals from Marcus Rashford put United two-up after 25 minutes.

In between the goals, Virgil van Dijk missed a crucial header from six yards out as Liverpool struggled to create many clear-cut chances.

An own goal from Eric Bailly brought Jurgen Klopp's side back into the game on 65 minutes, making for a grandstand finish, but Liverpool were unable to break down the Red Devils' stout defence.
