Barcelona have been put under pressure to sign Manchester United target Alvaro Odriozola – by Lionel Messi .
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising right-backs in European football since breaking through into the Real Sociedad first team.
Manchester United are said to be monitoring his progress closely and, with Matteo Darmian set to leave, there will be space for a new full-back at Old Trafford.
However they are not the only club considering a move for Odriozola, who has a relatively affordable £35million release clause in his contract.
Barcelona are also well aware of the defender's promise and they could make their move when the transfer window opens.
And now, according to reports in Spain, the Nou Camp club are being encouraged to land the Real Sociedad star by their own striker Messi.
Diario Gol have claimed that the Argentine superstar believes Odriozola can go on to become the club's long-term right-back and is putting pressure on Barca to sign him via his representatives.
