Arsene Wenger says contract talks with Jack Wilshere are ‘progressing’ and he is hopeful the midfielder will sign a new deal with Arsenal .
Wilshere’s current contract is due to expire at the end of June and he would be free to leave not nothing in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal, however, want the England international to extend his stay in north London and are in talks with him over fresh terms.
And when asked if he was hopeful Wilshere would sign a new contract with Arsenal, Wenger said: “Yes, but the decision belongs to him.
“It’s progressing. At the end of the day you have to respect the decision of the player.
“Our desire is clear, is expressed, is numbered and after that, the player has to find satisfaction as well.”
