Former Liverpool and Newcastle star lands surprising first job in management

Craig Bellamy is expected to be confirmed as Oxford United's new manager.

According to The Sun , the former Cardiff, Newcastle, Liverpool and Wales star has been locked in talks with the League One club for the past fortnight and is now poised to take the reins.

Bellamy has been working as a TV pundit for Sky Sports alongside presenter David Jones, who is a non-executive director at Oxford.

He has been combining his media work with his role as head of youth development at Cardiff.

The 38-year-old has spoken publicly of his desire to enter managament and was interviewed for the Wales job.

He missed out to former teammate Ryan Giggs, but is now set to get his chance in League One with Oxford United .

Oxford, currently sitting 15th in the table, have been searching for a new boss since sacking Pep Clotet at the end of January.
